Red Letter Challenge: Resources

Thank you for participating in the Red Letter Challenge! In this 40-day discipleship challenge, we have been studying Jesus's words and five main principles of discipleship: being, forgiving, serving, giving, and going. Check out the resources below on how to take specific next steps in each of Jesus' practices.

Being

Jesus cares most about us being “with Him” than what we can do for him. Watch our message on “being” here.

Here are some resources for how to “be with Christ” through spiritual practices like Bible reading, prayer, worship, solitude/rest, fasting, celebration, and Sabbath.

Forgiving

Jesus calls us to forgive those who have hurt us, just like our Father has forgiven us. Watch our message on “forgiveness” here.

It is crucial to understand how forgiveness differs from making amends and reconciliation. Check out this resource by Regeneration Recovery on Biblical Forgiveness, Amends, and Reconciliation here.

Serving

Serving isn’t something that we do on occasion, serving stems from the very nature of being a human. Jesus, our leader, leads as he invites us to follow him as he has come to “serve and to give.” Watch our message on “serving” here.

Do you know your spiritual gifts? Take this spiritual gifts inventory as a starting point and then talk to one of the 938 staff members to see how you can use your gifts to serve the body of Christ. Email info@938.church to learn more.

Giving

Jesus talks about money more than any other topic in the Scripture because how we view money is connected to our hearts. “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also …” Matt. 6:21. Watch our message on “giving” here.

Next Steps in Giving:

  • Give to the Body of Christ. (Your giving enables us to gather on Sundays, launch ministries like Alpha and Regeneration Recovery, and serve our community).

  • Give to the Care Fund. (Our care fund directly impacts those in our community who do not have the resources and are overwhelmed by short-term needs).

  • Give to the community.

Going

God has called us to “go.” We are here for a purpose and much of our frustration in life is connected to our neglect, distraction from and drift from that purpose.  In particular, God has called us to move towards others in their hurt.  Unless we experience God come to us in our hurt, we will struggle to move toward God or others in life's difficulties.

Our message on “going” will be available on YouTube on 5/27.
